*Berlin Outsider Artist | HighTech & Kunst Award 2019 | Trauma, Time & Consciousness | Painting, Drawing, Digital Art, Mixed Media, Paper Arts | Based in Berlin, Germany*

## Artist Statement

I build images from points, lines, signs and numbers. Repetition becomes rhythm: a way of moving through memory, time and inner experience. My Codex-A systems are a personal visual language connecting perception, consciousness and transformation.

I work through proximity, touch, breathing and movement. As a nearly blind artist, I encounter the image with my whole body. The Open Studio at the Alexianer St. Hedwig-Kliniken Berlin offers a place of exchange and continuity, while my artistic choices remain my own.

My work moves between the fleeting instant, the imagined nanosecond and the long duration of a paper roll. Circular and 360-degree arrangements let me explore attention as something that can turn, surround and return. Numbers become rhythms and visual relationships. Energy and atmosphere name felt intensities, while light and layered signs suggest processes that remain unseen. These are artistic and philosophical investigations of subjective experience.

Digital processes and AI extend this exploration into symbolic constellations and imagined spaces. I use AI as a creative and accessibility tool under my direction. My physical originals, AI transformations with a documented source and fully generated images belong to distinct strands of the practice. Where a digital image’s exact source process has not yet been documented, its presentation says so.

I want the work to create an encounter between inner and outer worlds, between different ways of sensing, and between people. Viewers are invited to take their time, follow the signs and discover their own relationships within them.

## About

Haci Sami Yaman (born 19 June 1973 in Siegen, Germany) is a Berlin-based self-taught visual and Outsider artist. His practice spans acrylic painting, drawing, mixed media, monumental paper works and experimental digital art. For around ten years, the Open Studio (Offenes Atelier) at the Alexianer St. Hedwig-Kliniken Berlin has provided a setting for his artistic development and exchange.

Points, lines, calligraphic signs and numerical sequences accumulate into personal Codex-A systems. Colour, repetition and rhythm connect his investigations of memory, trauma, spirituality, relationships, subjective time, perception and consciousness. Alongside several hundred smaller and medium-sized works, he has created paper rolls reaching up to 25 metres. Digital images, videos and AI-involved studies extend this vocabulary into imagined spaces, circular diagrams and symbolic constellations.

Nearly blind, Yaman works through close engagement with surfaces, touch, movement and an inner sense of orientation. He uses AI assistance on his own terms to support access and develop artistic possibilities while retaining authorship and artistic direction. Physical originals, documented AI transformations and generated imagery are distinguished wherever their production history is known.

Selected exhibitions include Naturale Systeme with Beatrice Guder at Galerie ART CRU Berlin (2018), annual exhibitions at Kunsthaus Kannen, Münster, and the solo exhibition Trauma ReCoded at Galerie Kulturhaus Spandau (2025–2026). He received the HighTech & Kunst art prize from KRATZER AUTOMATION AG in 2019. His work was selected for the 28th Annual Art and Sales Exhibition, Kunsthaus Kannen, 25 October 2026–31 January 2027.

His work has also been presented at St. Nikolai Church, Berlin-Spandau. His project series In Beziehungen (In Relationships) explores human connections.

### Balkonien – Toni and Thoma: The Art of Growing (2026)

Nature, Memory and Transformation – Haci Sami Yaman, Berlin, 2026

For approximately six years, my Berlin balcony has been a place of observation, artistic reflection and occasional botanical adventures.

Through my tomato plants Toni and Thoma, I explore growth, transformation, natural cycles, inherited characteristics, scent, taste, memory and the transmission of information between generations.

Living with severe visual impairment, caring for these plants can be both challenging and wonderfully amusing.

Their branches grow in unexpected directions, sometimes making their own rules. Following their adventurous growth can be difficult, and branches occasionally break.

Occasionally, I even joke that my tomatoes receive more attention for their beauty than I do.

Yet these small encounters with nature bring me joy, laughter and inspiration.

Balkonien forms part of my wider artistic reflections on creation, perception, memory and the changing structures of life.

It is conceptually connected to my monumental artwork Anahita, while remaining an independent observation of living nature.

This video documents a stage of the 2026 growing season on my balcony in Berlin.

### The AI of the Future Asks: What Happened in the Past? (2026)

*Single-channel digital video (AI-assisted)*

HSY – Codex of Time, Consciousness and Energy

What if artificial intelligence in the future could look back into the past and ask: What happened to human consciousness, memory, time and energy?

In this experimental AI-assisted video artwork, Berlin-based Outsider Artist Haci Sami Yaman explores the interaction between past, present and future through his personal artistic coding systems.

His visual research brings together numerical structures, nanosecond-based calculations, symbolic energy formations, multidirectional thought streams and the concept of 360-degree perception.

Within his artistic universe, time is imagined not simply as a linear sequence but as a complex field of interacting, separating, overlapping and transforming processes.

Thoughts emerge, divide, reconnect and develop into multifunctional structures. Energy formations interact across imagined dimensions of memory, consciousness and time.

The artist’s personal coding systems — CA1, CA2 and CA3 — connect biographical time, cosmic symbolism, numerical registers and spiritual reflection.

A central element is the HSY 99-year life codex, incorporating a symbolic lifetime expressed in nanoseconds:

HSY-19730619-505228N080128E-3125724000000000000

The expanded artistic notation is:

HSY73-CA1CA2CA3-K99ΣSC13

These systems are personal, conceptual and artistic interpretations rather than experimentally established scientific measurements.

Through artificial intelligence, original ideas, numerical structures and visual imagination enter a new form of dialogue.

The video raises a question about humanity’s future:

Will the artificial intelligence of tomorrow become an interpreter of the thoughts, memories and invisible histories of yesterday?

An experimental exploration by Haci Sami Yaman of the relationships between time, perception, consciousness, transformation and the unknown.

### Anahita – The Femininity of the Universe (2024)

*Acrylic and mixed media on specially prepared compressed nonwoven material*

ANAHITA – THE FEMININITY OF THE UNIVERSE
Monumental Mixed-Media Artwork by Haci Sami Yaman

Anahita is a monumental artwork created by Berlin-based Outsider Artist Haci Sami Yaman around 2024. Extending up to approximately 25 metres, the work explores creation, femininity, consciousness, transformation and the symbolic relationship between humanity and the universe.

The artwork was developed on a specially prepared, compressed nonwoven roll through an intensive physical and artistic process. Multiple layers of material and acrylic colour were applied and worked with palette knives and other tools. The surface was refined, sanded and repeatedly polished under considerable pressure, then treated with cotton before intricate drawings, numerical structures and calligraphic elements were introduced.

Natural fragrances became another important part of the process, connecting visual expression with touch, memory, scent and emotional experience. The artist describes these fragrances as vegan in origin. He recalls the pleasure of rubbing them into the surface: moments of laughter and feeling as though he were on cloud nine. This sensory and emotional experience belongs to the work’s creation story.

Anahita explores the artist’s interpretation of energy formations, evolving structures of consciousness, human history, mythology and the transmission of knowledge across generations. Mathematical formulas, numerical sequences and symbolic registers represent imagined interactions, reactions, transformations and mutations within interconnected fields.

The work also reflects on ancient representations of divine powers and their continuing presence in cultural memory, religious traditions and human consciousness. Yaman’s personal CA1, CA2 and CA3 codex systems connect biographical time, cosmic symbolism and spiritual reflection. Nanoseconds, multidirectional thought streams and imagined energy fields form part of this visual and philosophical language; they are artistic interpretations, not experimentally established scientific laws.

Through Anahita, Yaman seeks to create a dialogue between physical matter, artistic imagination, spirituality, memory and the forces of creation.
