## Portfolio

### Reflection on a life so far ... (2026)

This is a development of my comic strip "Life After 50". In these panels, I muse about where I'm at after 50 years ...

---

### A message for our daughter (2026)

A "Life After 50" comic strip about sending a special message to our daughter when she is living with her dad.

---

### The modern work place ... (2026)

A "Life After 50" comic about the difficult reality that many minimum wage workers face in the work place.

---

### An exploration of style in comics (2026)

This was my first comic. I worked digitally, with a very sketchy, pencil drawing look. This comic also sets the tone for the way that "Life After 50" would continue to develop and feel :).

---

### Little things Matter (2026)

A "Life After 50" comic about the importance of the small things in life .. particularly small kindnesses. This comic also explores a different stylistic approach; the old style comic application of colour by using mainly cyan, magenta, yellow and black, as well as the old print look.

---

### Family roles (2026)

A "Life After 50" comic about family and the way we all tend to settle into different roles ...
This comic is another stylistic exploration, where the linework is done (digitally) with a pencil tool, and the colour is a water colour tool. I'm leaning towards water colour as a favorite for comic strip colouring.

---

### Menopause!!! (2026)

A "Life After 50" comic about one of the many (unwelcome) surprises that show up when (peri)menopause comes knocking ...
This comic also explores a more pencil crayon / pastel style for the colour, and a solid black pen for the linework.

---

### Rainy Day (2026)

Some works are simple, and can evoke a feeling with a single action. This digital comic strip combines the use of black and white artwork on a yellowed (aged) paper, and pictures the simple act of walking out of frame, or passing through. It is about a moment in time, a feeling. It is about rain, and how that can feel... The lack of dialogue makes it a piece that invites feeling rather than story.

---

### A Glimpse of Beauty (2026)

In this "Life After 50" comic, a memory of a beautiful scene from the drive home is the focus. In this comic, a single moment of the day is preserved as worthy of remembering, and in this way is made significant. The idea that a single moment or memory is enough to bring contentment is explored.

---

### The gym .. at Fifty (2026)

Going to the gym at fifty years of age is a very different experience from going to the gym at thirty years of age ... "Life After 50" explores the challenge of (and surprise at) the changes in our experience of activities that come as we age.

---

### Life isn't easy (2026)

Sometimes a comic is the best way to write a diary. They aren't always appropriate for showing, especially if they are an expression of frustration with a workplace or with others. And yet, sometimes, it is exactly this kind of honesty and the courage to put it out there, that starts conversations that need to happen. I wish to explore more, the way to tastefully, tactfully, and bravely bring out difficult topics of conversation or life experience to talk about. "Life After 50" explores these kinds of thoughts and topics.

---

### Partying in my 50's (2026)

This "Life After 50" comic uses camera movement rather than action to reflect on changing preferences regarding fun ...
