Tap it on a program you might apply to or a work you want to come back to, and it lands in your Favorites. Tap it again to take it out. ![The favorite heart. Tap it to favorite. Tap it again to remove it.](https://www.artsume.com/images/docs/demos/favorite-heart.png) ## Where the heart appears The heart sits on the things worth keeping, in the same place every time: - **Program cards**, wherever they appear: [Explore](/explore), your [Feed](/docs/feed), and the widget in the rail. - **Program pages** that are still open, in the sidebar next to the apply button, and in the action bar at the bottom of a phone screen. - **Works** by other people, on the tiles in an artist's portfolio, on a work's own page, and on work posts in your feed. Your own tiles carry no heart, since you cannot favorite your own work. On a program card and on a work, the heart is the icon alone. Next to an apply button it carries a word, reading **Favorite** before you tap and **Favorited** after. ![A program card, as it appears on Explore. Artsume tells you so rather than quietly doing nothing. ## Your Favorites page Everything you hearted collects in one place, split into two sections stacked down the page. **Programs** come first, newest save at the top, laid out as the same cards you saved them from. **Works** follow the same way, newest save first, each with the artist's name attached so you can get back to whoever made it. A section you have nothing in does not appear at all. Until you have saved anything, the page carries a single line telling you to tap the heart on any program or work. ## Saved programs stay saved A favorited program stays in your list after its deadline passes and after it closes. That is deliberate: a saved list is a bookmark, not a live search, and a program vanishing the week it closed would be worse than a closed program you can still read. A closed program's page carries no heart, so that is not where you unsave it. Take it out from your Favorites page instead. If you want a live list instead, save the search rather than the programs. Saved searches live on [Explore](/explore) and email you when a new program fits them, which is part of [Artsume Pro](/docs/artsume-pro). > ℹ️ **The Favorites pill replaces your other filters:** The **Favorites** pill above the Explore results replaces whatever else you had set and shows the programs you have hearted, on Explore. Your other filters, and the map bounds, drop while it is on. Turn it off to get them back. Your Favorites page is the fuller view, with works alongside programs. ## Why a saved work can disappear Works behave differently from programs, because a work belongs to somebody else. If an artist unpublishes a piece or moves it back to a draft, it leaves your Favorites. Nothing is deleted on your side. The work is simply no longer public, and Artsume does not keep showing you someone's withdrawn piece. Save the artist instead if you want to keep track of them. Tracking is covered in [Your network](/docs/your-network). ## Who can see what you saved Nobody else is notified when you favorite something. No bell rings for them, no email goes out, and no name reaches the artist or the organization. You do hear about your own saves: a saved program earns you a notification when its deadline is near, and an email as well if your reminder settings ask for one. What they do see is a number: - An artist reads **Portfolio saves** on their [Insights](/docs/insights) page, a count of how many times their work has been saved over the past 30 days. It never names who saved it. - An organization reads a **Saves** count for a program in its reporting, aggregated the same way. Your list is private. The totals are not. If you would rather nothing counted at all, do not tap the heart. ## Frequently Asked Questions **Q: Does the organization know I favorited its program?** A: Not by name. Organizations see a total number of saves for a program in their reporting, with nobody identified. Your list of saved programs is visible only to you. **Q: Why did a work disappear from my Favorites?** A: The artist unpublished it or moved it back to a draft, so it's no longer public. Your other saves are untouched. Track the artist if you want to know when they publish something new. **Q: Do saved programs disappear when they close?** A: No. A closed program stays in your Favorites so you can read it, note the deadline, and watch for the next round. Favorites is a bookmark list, not a live search. **Q: Can I save my own work?** A: No. Artsume blocks it and says so. Use Feature on profile instead if you want to highlight a piece on your own About tab. **Q: What's the difference between favoriting a program and tracking the organization?** A: Favoriting saves that one program to your list.
