## About

The not-for-profit AKC is the trusted expert in breed, health, and training information for all dogs.

The American Kennel Club is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1884, and it is the recognized and trusted expert in breed, health, and training information for all dogs. It runs dog sports including conformation, agility, obedience, tracking, scent work, and coursing, and it maintains the registry that lets owners register and trace a dog's pedigree.

Through its Government Relations department, the AKC advocates for responsible dog ownership and works on canine legislation affecting owners and breeders. Its affiliates include the AKC Canine Health Foundation, the AKC Rescue Network, AKC Reunite pet ID and recovery, the AKC Humane Fund, and the AKC Museum of the Dog.
