## About

A nonprofit offering fellowships, education and archives in Italy's Civita di Bagnoregio hill town.

The Civita Institute is a nonprofit founded in Seattle in 1981-82 as the Northwest Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in Italy. Its mission is to foster an interdisciplinary understanding of Italian hill towns through historic preservation, education and scholarly research, artistic creation, cultural exchange and professional exploration.

The Institute offers fellowships and educational programs, and holds archive collections in its historic buildings in Civita di Bagnoregio, about 90 miles north of Rome. These facilities include arts-focused studio space and teaching spaces for members and program participants.

The Institute works with partners such as the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Landscape Architects and the Comune di Bagnoregio.
