## About

An art museum presenting American art and decorative arts alongside its permanent collection.

Gibbes Museum of Art is a museum dedicated to collecting, preserving, and exhibiting American art, with a particular focus on works connected to Charleston and the American South. Its permanent collection includes 18th and 19th century American paintings, sculpture, and decorative arts, along with a notable holding of miniature portraits and works from the Charleston Renaissance and American Regionalism movements.

Alongside its permanent galleries, the museum presents a rotating slate of special exhibitions spanning historic and contemporary artists. It also operates a museum store and offers public programs, including free admission initiatives for active-duty military personnel and their families.
