## About

Howard County's local arts agency, granting funds, hosting exhibits and classes, and renting studios.

The Howard County Arts Council is the designated local arts agency for Howard County, Maryland, created in 1981 to foster the arts. It is devoted to nurturing local artists and arts organizations, furthering the public's appreciation of the arts, and keeping the arts accessible regardless of age, ability or economic status.

It awards grants, scholarships and honoraria, and advocates for the arts with elected officials and community leaders at the local and state level. It also runs exhibits, receptions and events, offers art classes, camps and workshops, and provides affordable studio, rehearsal, classroom, meeting and performance space.

The council is based at the Capitoline Center in Ellicott City.
