## About

Atlanta grantmaker funded by community donations that gives direct grants to local artists, performers and cultural producers.

Idea Capital is an Atlanta arts funding body that pools small donations from the arts community and redistributes them as direct grants to Atlanta-based artists, performers and cultural producers. It was launched in 2008 by five local art community activists, each of whom put $100 into a common pool, as a way to support artists outside typical institutional funding models.

Since then it has awarded grants totaling over $151,000 to more than 135 artists working in diverse disciplines, with multiple competitive grants each year. A steering committee of critics, curators, artists and cultural workers oversees the program. In 2018 ArtsATL honored it with a Luminary Award for Innovative Practice.
