## About

A rural residency for artists, writers and architects, with a gallery, museum and studios.

MERZ is a rural artist residency based near Sanquhar, Scotland, offering self-contained residency spaces to artists, writers and architects working in the surrounding countryside. Alongside its three residencies, MERZ operates a gallery, a museum and studios on site. Month-long residencies can conclude with a public exhibition or performance, and Summerhall TV can provide filmed documentation or assist residents with video diaries.

The site's outbuildings include spaces named for avant-garde artists Kurt Schwitters and Hannah Höch, reflecting MERZ's connection to that artistic legacy.
