## About

An annual wilderness artist residency in Michigan's Upper Peninsula focused on wild clay and nature-inspired art.

Visitor Center Artist Camp (VCAC) is an annual artist residency program nestled in the Ottawa National Forest in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, operating as a project of Art Shape Mammoth, a 501(c)3 non-profit. Each summer, VCAC hosts a small group of resident artists for two weeks of immersive, community-oriented art-making in conversation with the wilderness. The program offers two tracks: a Wild Clay Workshop focused on harvesting local clay and outdoor firing techniques, and an Independent Projects residency for artists working in any medium inspired by the natural landscape.

VCAC is rooted in values of environmental sustainability, social justice, and arts education, fostering a culture of respect for people and the environment.
