## About This Program

Aviário Studio Artist Book Residency aims to promote the exploration and production in the Artist Book field. Artist books are consensually understood as an object that takes the shape or the dynamics of a book, and is made by an artist. There are many ways to conceive a book, and given the multidisciplinary features of Aviário Studio, it is possible to pursue very distinct paths.

We offer the conditions to test possibilities and materialize ideas. On one hand, it can be a moment of transition, more connected to experimentation and research; on the other hand, it can be the point of consolidation of a project translated into the production of a new body of work.

The duration, focus and outcome of the residency is defined by the participating artist's goals.

An art residency provides the technical conditions, time, and space to develop ideas and try new approaches. It is a moment that promotes connection between artists from different backgrounds and consequently the exchange of knowledge and experiences.

## Eligibility & Requirements

- **Career Stage:** Emerging artist, Established, Mid-career
- **Geographic Eligibility:** International
- **Disciplines:** blacksmithing, book arts, ceramics, drawing, graphic design, illustration, installation, interdisciplinary, mixed media, painting, paper arts, photography, poetry, printmaking, sculpture, storytelling, visual arts
- **Age Requirements:** 21+ years old
- **Note:** Artists must be over 21 years old at the time of their arrival. Artists have to make sure when applying that they are able to cover the costs of the residency fee, travel, materials and food. Pets are not allowed.

Will you bring a partner?), Choose your residency type (Self-directed Residency, Guided Art Residency or Assisted Production Residency), Brief description of your project, Online portfolio (or 5-8 images instead)

## Compensation & Benefits

No artist stipend provided. Residency fee required starting at 600€ for 2 weeks.

No artist stipend. No travel stipend or material stipends. Residency fees: 2 weeks - 600€, 3 weeks - 900€, 4 weeks - 1200€, 5 weeks - 1500€, 6 weeks - 1800€. Residency fee includes accommodation in a shared house and studio access during opening hours. Materials and meals not included. Studio Support (training or assistance) is 15€ per hour.

## What's Provided

- **Housing:** Provided - Private bedroom in a shared housing facility on campus
- **Studio Access:** Provided - Shared studios with studio access during opening hours (Mon.-Fri. from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.). Dedicated Studio/Shop Technicians - Full Time and Part Time available.
