## About This Program

> "Cultural preservation and reclamation, empowerment and identity affirmation, community building and solidarity, and cross-cultural understanding and dialogue for Native American artists"

The Fine Arts Department at Spokane Falls Community College is honored to host the sƛ̓x̣etkʷ Artist-in-Residence Program. The annual program supports cultural preservation, empowerment, community building, and professional growth for artists. Each residency term is three months and includes lodging, artist stipends, and state of the art studio space within sƛ̓x̣etkʷ Fine and Applied Arts Building 32.

The selected resident artist will have an office space and access to the Fine Art Department studios, which includes diverse creative disciplines such as ceramics, drawing, metals/jewelry, painting, printmaking, digital art, sculpture, and mixed media. The residency provides time for the artist to develop artwork, explore new ideas, and to strengthen existing talents. The artist selected annually will explore creative expression through educational and professional development opportunities that connect them with students and the wider Spokane community each winter quarter.
