# 2027 Artspace Open Call for Proposals

## About This Program

Artspace's Exhibition Committee will review proposals for exhibitions of art for the 2027 season in our gallery located at 2833-A Hathaway Rd., Richmond, Virginia 23226, in the Stratford Hills Shopping Center. We welcome submissions for exhibitions of art from all genres and media. Proposals may be made for individual, group or joint shows. Joint shows are exhibitions for two artists with inter-related works who intend for their works to be shown together in the same designated gallery.

Artists or curators may apply for group shows. Work exhibited should have been completed within the last 5 years of exhibition date unless the proposal is for a retrospective. The body of work in the exhibition must be work that has not been previously exhibited in Richmond or the Greater Richmond Metropolitan Area.

## Eligibility & Requirements

- **Geographic Eligibility:** National
- **Note:** Location Eligibility Type: National. Eligible Applicant Types: Artist. Submission limit: 1. Full-time students are not eligible to apply for individual or joint shows. Artspace's artist members are eligible to show in groups of 4 or less once every 18 months; non-members are eligible to show in groups of 4 or less once every 48 months; there is no restriction on how often an artist may participate in group shows of 5 or more.

Work exhibited should have been completed within the last 5 years of exhibition date unless the proposal is for a retrospective. Work must not have been previously exhibited in Richmond or the Greater Richmond Metropolitan Area. Selections will be made without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age, or national origin.

### Additional Requirements

- An art resume or CV
- your Exhibition Proposal (a description of your proposed exhibition — solo or group show, are you the exhibiting artist, will you be curating the work of other artists)
- your preferred dates to show (available 2027 dates: 3/26–4/17, 4/23–5/22, 8/27–9/18, 9/24–10/16)
- whether you will be providing programming or workshops during the run of the show
- image, video, or sound files (Images min 5 / max 10, Audio min 0 / max 5, Video min 0 / max 5, Total min 5 / max 10)
- $35 fee.

For video entries, artists must provide display equipment if work is selected.

## Compensation & Benefits

No fees to exhibit. $35 application fee required to apply.
