# Cave Yuccas Artist Retreat in Trôo, France

**Hosted by:** The Cave Yuccas Artist Retreat

**Type:** Residency | **Location:** The Cave Yuccas, Trôo, Loir-et-Cher, France | **Deadline:** December 1, 2026 | **Entry fee:** €45

## About This Program

> "Artworks that respond to the unique characteristics of Trôo, one of France's most unusual villages that earned the official label of Petite Cité de Caractère. You are, however, free to work on any theme."

A self-directed retreat in the troglodyte village of Trôo in the northern Loire Valley, offering a private cottage and a dedicated studio in the cave house below, next to the Cave Yuccas heritage museum and café. The studio has a high vaulted ceiling, natural light, French box easels for plein air painting and basic supplies (white spirit solvent, utility knives, paint scrapers, rags, aprons, work table), allowing work en plein air in the village or in the studio. Meant to inspire artworks that respond to the unique characteristics of Trôo, one of France's most unusual villages that earned the official label of Petite Cité de Caractère; artists are, however, free to work on any theme.

At the end of the stay each artist is asked to contribute one piece of their visual or literary work, inspired by Trôo, to the Cave Yuccas Museum gallery's permanent collection.
