# Big Art SF- Call for Large-Scale Sculptures: Exhibition Opportunity

**Hosted by:** Building 180

**Type:** Public art | **Location:** San Francisco, CA, United States

## About This Program

### About This Call

In partnership with the Sijbrandij Foundation, Building 180 is thrilled to announce Big Art SF, a bold new initiative, bringing large-scale sculptures to public spaces across the San Francisco Bay Area. We are currently seeking existing monumental sculptures (10 feet and taller) to be considered for inclusion in upcoming installations. The foundation's vision is to place 100 sculptures over the next three years, working in collaboration with key civic agencies.

Big art has the power to transform public spaces into immersive, uplifting, and thought-provoking environments for communities. By amplifying more artists, these works can bring moments of joy, curiosity, and reflection to residents and visitors alike. This is an opportunity to have your work featured as part of this emerging program.

### Eligibility

- Artists: Open to all artists, regardless of background, experience level or location. We especially encourage artists from historically underrepresented backgrounds and neighborhoods.
- Artwork requirements:
- Size: Sculptures must be over 10 feet tall.
- Condition: Works should be exhibition-ready and suitable for outdoor public display. Some exceptions can be made if some refurbishment is required. Please note that security may not be available during the duration of the exhibition.
- Installation: Artists should provide detailed specification including installation requirements, including any necessary equipment or structural considerations.
- Engineering: All works will need to be engineered and accompanied by stamped engineering drawings and calculations to ensure public safety.

### Submission guidelines

- Images: High-resolution images of the sculpture from multiple angles. Please include both daytime and nighttime photos of the sculpture.
- Description: A brief artist statement and description of the work, including dimensions, materials, and year of creation.
- Installation details: Information on installation requirements and any maintenance considerations.
- Rental Cost: A baseline estimate of the rental cost ranging from 6 months to 3 years.
- Deadline: We are accepting submissions on a rolling basis, however, time is of the essence as we present artworks to various partners across the San Francisco Bay Area regularly.
