# Dorothy Antoinette LaSelle 2026 Travel Fellowship

**Hosted by:** Dorothy Antoinette LaSelle Foundation

**Type:** Fellowship | **Location:** Houston, TX, United States | **Deadline:** September 7, 2026

## About This Program

> "Research travel to further the artist's practice"

Recognizing the impact that travel can have on an artist's career, the Dorothy Antoinette LaSelle Foundation has established the Dorothy Antoinette LaSelle Travel Fellowship. In the fall of 2026, two awards of $5,000 each will be distributed to visual artists working and residing in the state of Texas, enabling the recipients to complete a research trip to further their artistic practice. Dorothy Antoinette "Toni" LaSelle, a pioneer of Modernism in Texas, traveled to Europe in 1927-28, after completing her MA at University of Chicago.

She explored the art of England, Italy and France during this trip, which would not have been possible without a "study fund" she was awarded for works included in the First Student Art Exhibition at the Renaissance Society in 1926. The guest juror this year is Lana Meador, Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the San Antonio Museum of Art. The fellowship is designed as a research travel fellowship open to practicing visual artists with a degree in the arts who hold proof of Texas residence for at least one year.
