# Lucid Art Residency Program 2027

**Hosted by:** Lucid Art Foundation

**Type:** Residency | **Location:** Lucid Art Foundation campus, Inverness, CA, United States | **Deadline:** November 3, 2026 | **Entry fee:** $40

## About This Program

> "Art and consciousness; nonrepresentational artmaking through multimedia, conceptual, ecological, and interdisciplinary approaches"

The Lucid Art Residency Program encourages nonrepresentational artmaking exploration through mixed-media, conceptual, ecological, and interdisciplinary approaches. Nonrepresentational artwork does not represent or depict a being, place, or thing. The solo residency is a 3-week stay, usually between March and November, for artists in serene, retreat-like surroundings.

This program encourages artists to delve into a contemplative state with their studio work. Solitary explorations in a remote place enable artists to unplug from their daily routines and find a deeper connection with nature. The residency will provide a house to live in, located in the center of the Foundation campus in Inverness, California. The residency artist has the opportunity to use a studio called the "Ark," built in 1960 and originally used by painter Gordon Onslow Ford, then by painter John Anderson (1962-1964), and finally by mixed-media artist and scholar Fariba Bogzaran (1995-2011).

There is also a print shop with a Sturges press available for use by artists who are experienced printmakers; only water-based media may be used on the press. The Lucid Art Foundation will curate an online exhibition of the residency artists. During the residency, artists have the opportunity to meet and dialogue with a Lucid Art professional artist associate who will visit the artist's studio, and a weekly tea and conversation will be scheduled with staff, artist associates, and/or scholars.

Artists will be given a tour of Gordon Onslow Ford's studio, shedding light on the historical and environmental context seeding the residency program and campus.
