## About This Program

> "Cultural immersion in Indian life, tradition and cross-cultural exchange"

Independent artist-run residency in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, dedicated to artistic creation, cultural exchange and immersion in Indian life and tradition. Residents live among a local family, explore Pattachitra, tribal art, temples, craft villages, local festivals and museums, and let these experiences become part of their creative language. KIAR supports visual artists (painting, sculpture, mixed media), photographers, filmmakers, writers and poets, performance and installation artists, digital/new-media and sound artists, textile and fashion designers, curators and art historians, from emerging to established practitioners.

Shared studios, painting and drawing areas, dance/performance rehearsal space, basic woodworking tools, library, Wi-Fi and kitchen access are provided, with open studios, talks and exhibition opportunities for eligible longer stays. Curated by international curator and artist Ashis Pahi, KIAR keeps the experience intimate, with six residents at one time, encouraging meaningful exchange. Traditional Indian art workshops (Pattachitra, tribal art), temple and craft-village visits, yoga and meditation sessions, participation in Indian festivals, cooking sessions, artist talks, museum tours and community art projects with local youth and schools are organised on demand.
