# Aviário Studio Ceramics: Glaze Developing Residency 2027

**Hosted by:** Aviário Studio

**Type:** Residency | **Location:** Aviário Studio | **Deadline:** January 12, 2027

## About This Program

> "Glaze development in ceramics"

Aviário Studio Glaze Development Residency aims to promote exploration and production in the field of glaze development. The program is customized according to the artist's goals regarding duration, outcome and focus. We offer the conditions to test possibilities and materialize ideas, with a specific glazing room equipped with extraction fans to ensure safe working conditions. On one hand, it can be a moment of transition, more connected to experimentation, research and learning new techniques; or it can be the point of consolidation of a project translated into the production of a new body of work.

An art residency provides the technical conditions, time, and space to develop ideas and try new approaches. It is a moment that promotes connection between artists from different backgrounds and consequently the exchange of knowledge and experiences.

Aviário Studio is a multidisciplinary, production-focused art residency in the center of Portugal. The studio was an old aviary converted into 5 equipped workshops, with facilities for printmaking, ceramics, wood, metal, sculpture, installation, drawing, painting, photography, and bookbinding.

### Specific Equipments Available

- Electric Kiln (1260º) 220L
- Electric Kiln (1050º) 160L

### Types of Residency

**Self-Directed Art Residency**

A Self-Directed Residency offers time and space to focus on your work. It is an invitation to seriously engage with your practice and creative process. You can find individual space to settle, and well-equipped workshops with specialized equipment to test possibilities and materialize your ideas.

This residency is conceived for emerging, mid-career and established artists who wish to work independently on research and/or production. Extra technical, training, or creative guidance can be requested at any time during the residency, subject to a fee and availability.

**Guided Art Residency**

A Guided Residency is all about breaking new ground and trying different things. If you want to discover a new medium or to dig deeper into an art technique, you have the opportunity to experiment, get technical training and guidance, and expand your artistic possibilities.

**Assisted Production Residency**

An Assisted Production Residency is for artists with technical knowledge who are focused on a specific outcome. Some large format projects or extensive work need well-equipped workshops and, often, extra production help.
