# ILLAPSE RESIDENCY PROGRAM WINTER 2027

**Hosted by:** Lapse

**Type:** Residency | **Location:** Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain | **Deadline:** November 15, 2026

## About This Program

ILLAPSE is the artist residency program of Lapse. The program offers a workspace in Barcelona where artists and other professionals in the field of contemporary art can develop their practice. The ILLAPSE studio is located within the facilities of Lapse, where the resident will share common areas with four other artists.

Residents are encouraged to give a public presentation of their work. Lapse welcomes proposals across a wide range of media and contemporary artistic practices. We are especially interested in innovative projects that prioritize interdisciplinary experimentation and the exchange of knowledge across fields and cultures. By fostering collaboration and dialogue, our aim is to enrich the creative process and generate unique perspectives—bringing together diverse methodologies and viewpoints to produce meaningful outcomes.

Currently open for January to March 2027 to national and international artists.

### Duration of residency

1 or 2 months of your choosing. Options now are for January 15th to March 14th. When applying, please indicate your preferred start month and desired duration. All residencies begin on the 15th day of the month.

### Accommodation

We have a housing option to recommend in the center of Barcelona: a room in a three-bedroom flat with a private bathroom and shared kitchen. Housing expenses are not included in the residency fee. Let us know if you would like to know more.

### Disciplines, work equipment and assistance

ILLAPSE welcomes a range of artistic approaches, but we are not equipped for practices that require significant space, tools, or technical infrastructure. Performance, ceramics, large-scale or materially intensive work may not be feasible within the residency. We ask applicants to consider the space's limitations when proposing a project.

### Studio / Workspace

An individual workspace of 14 m² within a shared, open-space studio with fours other artists. There is also a common area near the entrance, of about 30 m², equipped with a large table, a sofa, a bathroom, and basic kitchen supplies.

### Fees and support

The residency has a monthly cost of €500, to be covered by the resident.

### Expectations towards the artist

The ILLAPSE residency provides a supportive context where artists are invited—but not required—to share their work and processes.

ILLAPSE is a self-directed residency. While we provide space, support, and a public framework, residents are responsible for managing their own time and practice.
We expect residents to respect values of inclusion, non-discrimination, and respectful dialogue, rejecting all forms of violence, hatred, and systemic oppression.
