# Arts California: Dorland Mountain Arts

**Hosted by:** Dorland Mountain Arts

**Type:** Residency | **Location:** Temecula, Pennsylvania | **Deadline:** March 21, 2026 | **Entry fee:** $40

## About This Program

Dorland Mountain Arts is a beautiful retreat where artists, writers, musicians, and composers can create in a secluded and protected natural setting. Dorland is located near Temecula Valley Wine Country, about 100 miles south of Los Angeles and sixty miles north of San Diego.

Individual cottages are complete with WiFi, window AC, good cell phone reception, kitchen, bathroom, workspace, and a covered porch with magnificent mountain, canyon and Temecula Valley views. One cottage includes a Steinway baby grand piano and another has a Kimball baby grand.

The Community Arts Center provides a library with Dorland works and a large writing desk with a typewriter, a meeting room, and a studio room with room for painting, exploring cyanotypes, and a small printing press for visual artists.

The extensive grounds feature a reflecting pond, a small lake with a rowboat, and hiking trails that wind through the property.

Dorland invites residency requests from visual, literary (or other writing) and composing or performing artists. Residency stays may be as short as one week or as long as 6 weeks, based on requests and availability.

Residency fees are $450-$675 per week with discounts for residencies of four or more weeks. Application fee is $40 USD.

New residents must apply first before requesting dates. Candidates for residency are reviewed in order of Dorland's receipt of the completed applications. If the candidate is approved by the review board, a contract and request for deposit will be sent. The return of such will secure the dates of residency.
