# Keyhole

**Hosted by:** Memento Mori Gallery & Tattoo

**Type:** Exhibition | **Location:** Memento Mori Gallery & Tattoo, Lakewood, CO, United States | **Deadline:** January 9, 2027 | **Entry fee:** $30

## About This Program

> "Keyhole — literal, symbolic, psychological, mysterious, intimate, or surreal meanings of a threshold"

### Opportunity Summary

"Keyhole"

**A Group Exhibition Exploring What Lies Beyond**

A keyhole is a threshold. It offers a glimpse of something hidden, a passage into somewhere unknown, or a view into a story that has yet to unfold.

We invite artists to submit work for **"Keyhole,"** a group exhibition exploring the many meanings of the keyhole—literal, symbolic, psychological, mysterious, intimate, or surreal.

Emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply.

**Memento Mori Gallery & Tattoo is a lowbrow contemporary art gallery & private tattoo studio located in the 40West Arts District in Lakewood, Colorado, just 15 minutes from downtown Denver. We are in the same shopping center as Casa Bonita.**

### General Information

What do you see when you look through the keyhole?

Maybe it's a secret room, a forbidden world, a memory, a dream, a hidden self, or a future waiting to be discovered. Perhaps the keyhole represents curiosity, privacy, desire, access, exclusion, transformation, or the tension between what is revealed and what remains unseen.

Memento Mori Gallery & Tattoo is a lowbrow/outsider contemporary art gallery located in the 40West Arts District, part of the art walk circuit, and in the same shopping center as Casa Bonita. We get good foot traffic on First Fridays.

### Application Requirements

2D & 3D artwork. $30 entry fee per piece, can submit up to 2 pieces. Artwork must be for sale, with 40% of sale going to gallery. Piece must be ready to hang or display physically (will not display digital artwork unless it is printed and framed/mounted properly). "Ready to Hang" means hanging hardware is already attached - plain canvas without hanging wire is not "ready to hang". We will reject anything not ready to hang at drop off. Hanging wire preferred, no adhesive mounts, and must be able to hang from a hook or nail. We will also not accept any photographic work that depicts another artist's artwork without express permission from the artist to show and sell the photograph; this includes street art.

*Out-of-state artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery. Please do not submit unless you are prepared for this.
