# City Rhythms

**Hosted by:** California Art Club

**Type:** Exhibition | **Location:** Pasadena, CA, United States | **Deadline:** April 14, 2027 | **Entry fee:** $35

## About This Program

> "City Rhythms"

### Subject

We are seeking contemporary-traditional fine artworks that explore the theme "City Rhythms." We welcome submissions featuring urban/cityscapes, iconic architectural highlights, hidden city gems like gardens, parks, fountains, bridges, etc. We also encourage artistic interpretation of summer expressed through the human form, capturing community gatherings/activities like beachgoers, food trucks, restaurants, fairs/festivals, mini golf, sport games, etc.

The mission of this competition is to encourage artists to develop and refine their classical art skills and spotlight their mastery by providing a new platform for showcasing contemporary-traditional works of art.

We ask artists to represent City Rhythms via contemporary-traditional methods. Any genre of work will be eligible for consideration. Artwork submitted should be created in the last three years.

Note: NFS works are now eligible for consideration.

### Qualifications

Open to current and active members of the California Art Club including Associate Artists, Student Artists, Artists, Out-of-state Artists, Mentorship Program Members, Sculptors and Signature Artists.

### Medium and Dimensions

There is no size limit for this virtual exhibition.

Paintings should be in traditional materials like oil, watercolor, pastel, gouache, acrylic, graphite or charcoal.

Sculptures should be in permanent materials like fired clay, resin, marble, terra cotta, or bronze.

All artworks must be original. No AI, or AI reference materials, giclées or digitally enhanced images will be accepted. If it is found that a work does not meet these requirements, the artwork will be disqualified from this display.

### Recognition

- First Place: $1000
- Second Place: $500
- Third Place: $250
- Honorable Mention: $100

Special Recognition Awards will also be additionally and exclusively available for Student Artist, Mentorship Program and Associate Artist Members. Recipients of the Special Recognition Awards will receive $50.

The Judge for this installment of Excellence in Traditional Fine Art Competition is TBD.

Multiple opportunities for visibility will be provided for approximately 30-40 works of exceptional artistic merit from each competition. This visibility will include:

- Exhibition on the CAC website
- Featured posts on social media channels
- Winners will be featured in the CAC Newsletter

### Shipping and Sales

If a work sells, the collector will assume shipping costs. There is an expectation that sold works are framed. The artist will be responsible for preparing and packaging the artwork for shipment. The CAC will handle the sale of the artwork and any associated tax. Artwork cannot be removed for the duration of the exhibition.

### Considerations

- All artwork submitted will be considered for the exhibition, regardless of its availability for acquisition
- Artwork can only be sold through the CAC upon acceptance and through the end of the exhibition. Artwork cannot be marked as NFS and available for sale in another exhibition at the same time.
- Giclees, prints, photography, digital works, or digitally altered works will not be accepted. This will automatically disqualify artwork from the competition.
- Artwork must clearly showcase the theme.
- We encourage artists to include an artwork statement with their submissions as this can sometimes be the tipping point for acceptance.
