# UTS Library Creative in Residence 2027

## About This Program

### About the residency

UTS Library is seeking its 2027 Creative in Residence. Open to emerging and established creatives across disciplines, the residency invites an ambitious but achievable new work that activates the Library's spaces, culture and community. Applicants do not need to be affiliated with UTS.

**Who can apply:** All Creatives, All Mediums, All Levels of expertise for anyone based in Australia.

The program is now running for its 16th year, and we are calling all creatives to come play with us!

### What you get

- $15,000 remuneration covering time, creative work, superannuation, travel and accommodation
- $5,000 materials and production budget
- Six-month residency at UTS Library, approximately March–September 2027
- Dedicated workspace and computer
- Access to UTS Library spaces and collections
- Curatorial and project support
- Support for community engagement activities and public programming
- Installation, marketing and promotional support
- Dedicated public launch showcasing the completed work
- Opportunities to connect with the UTS community and broader GLAM sector
- Documentation of the completed work within the UTS Library collection
- A highly visible platform within UTS Library in central Sydney

### The gist of the residency

- You will have 6 months to bring your vision to life.
- Whatever you manifest will become a special part of the UTS Library's culture and identity.
- To compensate you for your time, energy, and actual art making and superannuation we offer a remuneration of $15,000.
- You will receive $5000 material budget to make your concept a reality.

### What we are looking for

*We are looking for someone who:*

- Is willing to work in our fabulous Library at least once a week for 16 weeks (or equal to) so the community can see you in action.
- Is excited to engage with the community, culture and spaces.
- Is ready to participate in all kinds of events and activities.
- And finally, it goes without saying, we are looking for someone who will deliver their creative vision.

### Eligibility

Residency applications are open to ALL creatures great and small, and applicants do not need to be affiliated with UTS to apply for this residency.

### Key dates

- Applications open Monday 7th September 2026
- Applications close 5pm, Monday 26th October 2026
- Successful applicant notified by late November 2026
- 6-month residency to take place approx March - September 2027

## Compensation & Benefits

$15,000 remuneration (covering time, creative work, superannuation, travel and accommodation) plus a $5,000 materials and production budget.

**Includes:** Stipend, Materials budget, Travel grant

## What's Provided

- **Travel Support:** Available - Travel is covered as part of the $15,000 remuneration.
- **Materials Support:** Available - $5,000 materials and production budget to make the concept a reality.
- **Studio Access:** Provided - Dedicated workspace and computer at UTS Library.
