# The Deets: A National Exhibition of Intricate and Heavily Detailed Artworks

**Hosted by:** d'Art Center

**Type:** Exhibition | **Location:** The Vault at d'Art Center, Norfolk, VA, United States | **Deadline:** November 15, 2026 | **Entry fee:** $30

## About This Program

### Opportunity Summary

**The Deets** exhibit will feature the art of meticulousness and showcase artworks that emphasize intricate detail, layered complexity, and exquisite finesse. From elaborate craftsmanship and subtle nuances to unexpected elements revealed upon closer inspection, these works invite viewers to slow down, look closer, and appreciate the artistry found in every mark, texture, and thoughtfully considered detail.

This exhibition will take place in our smaller exhibition space, The Vault, to create a more intimate and close up experience for our patrons. The Vault is a historical bank vault within The Center, and gives artists an opportunity to exhibit their work in a unique space in the heart of Norfolk's Arts District (The NEON District). This will be a competitive call as this intimate space will only be able to accommodate about 25 works.

Hang/pedestal ready art (including the frame if applicable) can not be longer/larger than 36 inches in its longest dimension. **Depending on artist involvement with installation, these stipulations may be waived by contacting the Gallery Director.** Wall hanging art must have a wire.

If you have a question about if your work qualifies, please email abradley@d-artcenter.org. No phone calls please.

This is an in person exhibition but this exhibition will also be featured digitally on d'Art Center's archive site.

This is a juried exhibition, and it will be curated by d'Art's Gallery Director, Amanda Bradley. Award winners will be selected by a panel of d'Art Center's professional artists and staff members.

### Application Requirements

$30 for 3 submissions, one image per artwork submission.

**Image Submission Tips**: If you are submitting a 3D work, create a tile image for the submission so that other sides can be seen, or use the other image slots for detail images and label them as such. The $30 entry fee covers 3 entries. The minimum image submission requirement is 3 images. You do not have to submit 3 different works, but artists have the option to do so for the $30 fee: one image per submission. If you do not have three works to submit, use the additional image requirement slots for detail images, or just submit the same image 3 times. Each additional submission over 3 submissions is an additional $5, and artists can submit up to 10 works to be juried for the show.

All entries and payments must be submitted via Call for Entries (CaFÉ).

### Limitations and Artwork Specifications

If your work is selected: ALL WORK MUST BE HANG/PRESENTATION READY. Wrapped canvases that are not framed must have finished edges. All 2D artwork must have a wire for hanging. All 3D works that requires presentation other than standard pedestals must include those items with the works. Works that require special installation must come with clear instructions. Any works that require complicated specialized installation must be installed by the artist.
