## How we count

A program counts when it is public, open for applications, and has a public, published host organization. The count includes an active late application window. It uses the same open-program rules as Explore.

The organization count includes all public, published organization profiles. It is independent of the open-program count and does not count only organizations hosting a current program.

A program's country comes from its own location. When absent, the count uses its host organization's location. Programs without either location remain in the total but leave the country distribution.

These figures describe Artsume listings at the recorded time, not an industry census or an average over a period. Import coverage and publication timing affect the distribution.

## Questions

### Do these numbers cover the whole art world?

No. They count public listings on Artsume. Many programs never reach a listing platform. The figures describe this collection, not a representative sample of the arts sector.

### How often do the numbers change?

The live page counts listings when it loads. Programs join when they open and leave when applications close. Dated editions preserve a separate observation for citation.

### Why are acceptance rates and award amounts absent?

Artsume does not hold a sufficiently complete sample of decided applications to report those figures. These observations measure listings, not artists' chances of selection or the value of awards.
