Artist Statement

My artistic practice is mainly focused on watercolor painting and folk art-inspired visual storytelling. I am deeply inspired by the works of Jamini Roy and his ability to transform traditional folk elements into a modern artistic language. His use of simple forms, bold expressions, and connection to local culture strongly influences my creative approach. In my work, I explore themes of culture, tradition, nature, memory, and human emotions. I am interested in everyday life, people, and the stories hidden in ordinary experiences. I often take inspiration from Bengali folk art, rural culture, and the relationship between people and their environment. I enjoy combining traditional visual elements with my own ideas and personal experiences. Watercolor is an important part of my practice because I love its softness, flow, and unpredictability. I enjoy how layers of color can create emotion and atmosphere. Through watercolor, I experiment with texture, movement, and storytelling while keeping a sense of simplicity and honesty in my work. What drives my work is curiosity and a desire to create emotional connections. I am motivated by the idea that art can preserve culture, share stories, and bring people together. I believe art is more than creating images—it is a way to express feelings, memories, and experiences that words cannot always explain. My artistic practice is still growing and evolving. I see art as a journey of learning, observation, and exchange. Through my work, I want to create visual narratives that connect tradition with contemporary expression while encouraging viewers to reflect, feel, and find their own meanings in the artwork.
