Artist statement

Human identity is a dynamic equilibrium of opposing forces, a mix of emotional fluidity and structured boundary. I construct abstract expressionist portraits that translate the distinct energies, moods, and nuances of human personality into visual form. To honor this human connection, each painting bears a human name anchoring non-objective compositions to a specific presence and inviting an empathetic dialogue between the viewer and the canvas. Visually, my process balances energetic, heavily textured mark-making with deliberate geometric structure. This visual tension mirrors the inherent contrast of human nature. Spontaneous, felt emotion is met by the structured frameworks we inhabit. Through rich impasto, bold contouring, and intuitive color choices, each piece manifests a singular, living identity.
