Artist Statement

I pride myself in the diversity of my skillset. I think its incredibly important to be a well-rounded individual, and it offers me valuable insight into neighboring communities as well as an immense respect for other people and their artistic discipline. My work is rooted in a passionate curiosity for technology, design, and traditional art, and my Afro-Jamaican heritage stands at the forefront of that curiosity. It is inspired primarily by the surrealist nature of shows like Atlanta and Adventure Time and sandbox games like Minecraft. I often illustrate subjects with awkward proportions and poses to evoke a feeling of underlying unease, and they are typically placed against liminal and abstract spaces to further compound on these feelings-- that theres something missing or simply not right about this picture.
