Sign upIn an analog assault on our digital age, my practice is driven by the human hand, the energy of my touch. I deal in labor-intensive techniques that move between fiber art and experimental design. Informed by a prior career as a professional ballerina, I felt wool by hand, with needles or water, using a natural balance of asymmetry and irregularity to evoke an impression of perpetual movement. My sculptural forms are either welded steel or entirely carved by hand, without the use of any power tools. The resulting works poetically explore notions of materiality and so-called reality, as they operate in the liminal space between the domestic and the wild. Across disciplines, my work seeks to create a surreal, tactile encounter... a sensory experience that unsettles familiar perception and returns you to the world slightly altered.
