Artist statement

I create silkscreen prints inspired by places that stay with us and become part of our memories: city streets, shorelines, and landscapes. Working from my photographs, I build each print through dozens of transparent layers of ink, allowing colour, light, and texture to emerge one layer at a time. I'm fascinated by the painterly possibilities of silkscreen. Many people are surprised to discover my work isn't a painting, but a hand-pulled print created through a layered process. I embrace the unexpected moments that happen along the way, letting each print evolve until it feels complete. After returning to printmaking in 2023, I've rediscovered the joy of creating and sharing this remarkable medium. Whether I'm in the studio or teaching silkscreen, I hope my work encourages people to pause, look closely, and find beauty in familiar places.
