Agder Kunstsenter (AKS) is a competence center for visual art whose primary area of work is the two Agder counties, with its business office and exhibition space in Kristiansand. It has 34 years of experience in the field and holds expertise in public art commissions, a guest artist (residency) scheme, artist grants and an art rental scheme.
On behalf of Kristiansand municipality it runs rental of artist studios and a project space for large productions. It keeps an archive of the region's professional artists and sells art on commission. Its own gallery shows self-produced exhibitions, project exhibitions and touring exhibitions, and also hosts cultural events, seminars, workshops and artist talks.
