Akumal Arts Festival

Akumal Arts Festival is an annual gathering in the pueblo of Akumal, Mexico, where over 100 artists come together to paint murals, offer workshops and stage performances. Since 2018, an international crew of artists has painted more than 500 murals in the town. The festival's mission is to engage and enhance the community through an international consortium of artists, starting with the local community and reaching across Mexico and the world. It works to beautify Akumal for locals and visitors, and it treats art as activism for a town facing rapid development and ecological risk.
