Professional theater company whose Conservatory trains actors of all ages, from grade 3 to adults.
American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) is a theater company whose Conservatory trains actors of all ages, from grades 3 to 12 in the Young Conservatory to adults in Studio A.C.T. and intensive programs. Its classes cover acting, singing, and scene study, and its Summer Training Congress and San Francisco Semester offer longer intensive training. The Conservatory's training is tied to A.C.T.'s professional productions, bringing students into contact with its writers, directors, designers, and actors. A.C.T. also runs the Bold Access Initiative, offering free and heavily subsidized tickets, scholarships, and accessibility services so that theater is open regardless of income or ability. The company presents more than 2,000 performances and classes each year across its theaters.
