ANON. is a Cape Town contemporary gallery concept, launched in 2019, that stages pop-up art exhibitions in physical and online spaces.
ANON. is a contemporary gallery concept launched in February 2019 and conceived, curated and produced by Sarah Jayne Fell. It is designed as a pop-up gallery that exists in physical space for a limited period and also online. The name refers to a Virginia Woolf quote, "For most of history, Anonymous was a woman." The project aims to give a voice to the voiceless and to address female artistic expression and how women are represented in art. The gallery's launch exhibition took place on 21 February 2019 in Observatory, Cape Town. Its RISE pop-up, held 24-28 October 2019 at Salt Circle Arcade, responded to the movement against femicide and gender-based violence, with proceeds from art sales donated to Nonceba Family Counselling Centre in Khayelitsha.
