Arquetopia Foundation is an independent Mexican and Peruvian nonprofit that runs international artist residency programs in Puebla and Oaxaca, Mexico, and Cusco, Peru. Founded in 2009, it began as an educational arts initiative for inner-city youth and grew into a residency hosting artists, writers, researchers, curators and art historians from over 110 countries. Its programs are intensive, mentored and research-based, built on reciprocity, non-dominant forms of knowledge, and an anti-colonial, social-justice outlook. Residents work through materials, techniques and themes in settings shaped by complex colonial histories. The foundation also promotes sustainable development and social transformation through artistic, cultural and educational programs, and offers special programs for alumni.
