Arteventura is an off-grid artist residency set on a 25-hectare estate of holm and cork oaks in the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche nature reserve in Andalusia, Spain. The estate runs on solar energy and draws water from its own well and spring, and is designed around self-sufficiency and environmental responsibility. Resident artists are free to pursue their own practice while living off the grid, contributing to the community through hands-on projects, and exchanging knowledge and ideas with fellow residents. Artistic exchange, collaboration and a shared respect for the place are at the heart of the experience. The residency runs an annual open call for artists.
