The Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers (AWFS) is the largest national trade association in the United States representing companies that supply the home and commercial furnishings industry. Its international corporate membership includes manufacturers and distributors of machinery, hardware, lumber, upholstery materials, bedding components, plastics and wood products. AWFS owns and produces the biennial AWFSFair, the industry's largest trade show in the United States, and reinvests the proceeds in the woodworking industry. It supports industry education through scholarships, student competitions, educator resources and partnerships such as SkillsUSA, with the aim of preparing the next generation of woodworkers. The association also builds an industry-wide coalition to speak on public policy issues, including tariffs and career and technical education funding. It began in 1911 as the Suppliers Chapter of the California Furniture Manufacturers Association and incorporated as a separate organization in 1979.
