AVA Gallery

The AVA is a non-profit, membership-based art organisation whose aim is the advancement of visual art. Since 1971 it has been based in a former house at 35 Church Street, Cape Town, curating up to 28 exhibitions per year drawn from an annual open call. The organisation supports emerging and established artists of South Africa, guided by principles of experimentation, collaboration and shared decision making. It maintains a five-decade archive of its activities, available online for public access and research, and is supported by donors and sponsors.
