Big Car Collaborative is an Indianapolis-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization that uses art and creativity to build community and social cohesion. Begun as an artist-run space in the Fountain Square neighborhood, it now focuses on socially engaged art, creative placemaking and cultural community development, often through public programming in public spaces. Its home base is a campus of buildings in the Garfield Park neighborhood, including the Tube Factory contemporary art space and Listen Hear, a sound art space that houses an FM radio station. The organization also offers a Design for Good program for neighborhoods and nonprofits, pays artists to work on community projects, and supports emerging cultural initiatives and arts entrepreneurs. Its mission is to bring art to people and people to art, sparking creativity in lives to support communities.
