An international association of artists working in printmaking.
The Boston Printmakers is an international association of artists working in printmaking. It was founded in 1947 by a small group of senior students and faculty from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Massachusetts College of Art, and it drew its membership from across the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Mexico. The organization hosts the North American Print Biennial, a juried exhibition open to all artists living and working in North America. The show welcomes traditional print processes, photo and digital media, and interdisciplinary approaches, and it has been held at museums and galleries across the Boston area. Before becoming a biennial in 1993, it was held annually as the North American Print Exhibition from 1948 to 1991. Membership is by jury twice each year, and the organization is based at Lesley University College of Art and Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
