Museum of American art with an emphasis on the Wyeth family and the Brandywine region.
The Brandywine Museum of Art holds an internationally renowned collection with a primary emphasis on the art of the Brandywine region, especially the Wyeth family of artists, alongside American illustration, still life, landscape and Impressionist paintings. Housed in a renovated 1864 gristmill known as Hoffman's Mill, the Museum was opened in 1971 by the Brandywine Conservancy. It presents rotating special exhibitions alongside its permanent collection galleries and offers a variety of educational programs throughout the year. The Museum received accreditation from the American Association of Museums and is supported by thousands of members and hundreds of volunteer docents.
