Western New York artists' society since 1891, offering exhibitions, lectures and workshops for members.
The Buffalo Society of Artists is one of the oldest continually operating arts organizations in the country, started in 1891 to promote and expand awareness of Western New York artists. It is a membership body with exhibiting, associate, student and patron levels, and exhibiting members are admitted through a jurying process. The Society holds at least three exhibitions a year, including a catalogue exhibition, an open members' exhibition and an alternative exhibition. It also gives members lectures, workshops and studio visits throughout the year, and runs a Video Archive Project.
