Canada Council for the Arts

The Canada Council for the Arts is Canada's national arts funder, working toward a vision where the arts thrive in all parts of Canada and on the world stage. It supports individual artists, arts workers, groups and arts organizations through grants, prizes, strategic funds and initiatives. Its 2026-2031 strategic plan focuses on strengthening the resilience of the arts sector, connecting the arts with people, and enhancing the benefits of the arts at home and abroad. It is also committed to honouring and supporting the arts and cultures of Indigenous Peoples. The Council also runs the Art Bank, which rents contemporary art from a collection of more than 17,000 works by more than 3,000 artists from Canada, and the Public Lending Right program, which compensates creators for their works being available in public libraries. It operates the Âjagemô Exhibition Space and publishes research on the impact of the arts.
