Centro Español de Tampa

Centro Español de Tampa is a historic mutual aid and social club founded in 1891 by men of Spanish ancestry in Tampa, Florida. Incorporated by the state of Florida in December 1891, it was established to serve the growing Spanish immigrant community in the cigar-producing neighborhoods of Ybor City and West Tampa. The club provided a gathering place, entertainment, language education, medical services, and community support for immigrants from Spain and Cuba who arrived during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Alongside sister organizations like L'Unione Italiana and el Centro Asturiano, it helped shape Tampa's distinct Latin Quarter and cultural identity. Today it continues to preserve and celebrate the heritage of the Spanish community that helped build Tampa.
