The City of Mountain View is the local government of Mountain View, California. Its Economic Development Division runs a website covering business, downtown and public art matters. Through the Public Art Program, the Economic Development Division works with artists to create public artworks. A Visual Arts Committee, which dates to 1989, advises on the program. Over 40 public art pieces have been installed around the city. Under the Two Percent for Art Program, two percent of all major City capital improvement projects over $1 million is spent on public art related to the project. Local artists' work also rotates through the lobby of the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts and the Community Development lobby at City Hall. The city is preparing a Public Art Strategy, and the final document is tentatively scheduled for City Council adoption in Fall 2026. Future calls for artists are posted on the Call for Entry (CaFE) platform, and artists can subscribe to an Artist's Registry for alerts.
