Desert Art Center is a nonprofit community art resource for the Coachella Valley, based in the historic Frances Stevens School in Palm Springs. It has served as a creative hub since 1950, offering exhibitions, art education and community outreach programs for artists of all ages and skill levels. Its main gallery is described as the largest in Palm Springs, showing fine art in all mediums by more than 100 local artists. Members exhibit in regular featured artist and theme shows after passing a jury process. The center runs adult classes, workshops, an art night series and masterclasses. It also offers free middle school and high school art programs for students in the Palm Springs School District, along with an annual high school art show that awards supply grants.
