Edward F. Albee Foundation

The Edward F. Albee Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1967 by playwright Edward Albee, funded by proceeds from his play Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, to support writers and visual artists. It maintains the William Flanagan Memorial Creative Persons Center, known as The Barn, a residency center in Montauk, New York, on Long Island. The Barn offers writers and visual artists individual en-suite bedrooms and separate working studios in a secluded, peaceful setting near the Atlantic Ocean. Selection is based solely on talent and need, and the Foundation welcomes applicants from all walks of life. Residencies run for calendar-month periods and accommodate up to four resident artists at a time.
