The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) public charity that gives artists across all disciplines space, tools and a cooperative forum for developing their individual practice. It began in 1992 as a small grant-giving organization and, after buying a twelve-story building on West 39th Street in Manhattan in 1998, shifted to longer-term, practical support for artists. Its two major programs are the EFA Studio Program, a juried membership program offering affordable private studios, career development and public exposure, and the EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop Program, a fully equipped cooperative print workspace. The Foundation also runs exhibitions, classes, residencies and internships, encouraging exchange among artists, curators, critics and the public.
