The Emeryville Artists' Cooperative is a 501(c)(3) Limited Equity Housing Cooperative that provides affordable artist studios in the Bay Area. Founded in 1973 by artists seeking studios customized to their disciplines, it is the last cooperative of its kind registered in California. It is governed by its artist-members and keeps housing as affordable as possible. Today it is home to more than 100 artists across 58 studios in three former industrial buildings in Emeryville. Its members include painters, sculptors, photographers, choreographers, composers, writers and multidisciplinary artists, who exhibit and perform in galleries and museums nationally and internationally.
